Jamie Caroline ready for Oulton Park

Pirtek-backed teenaged racer Jamie Caroline will bid for his first win of the season in the KICK Start Energy Ginetta Junior Championship when the season resumes after a month-long spring break at Oulton Park in Cheshire (6/7 June).

Caroline, who was 16 years-old earlier this year, was selected by Pirtek Racing and Andrew Jordan for support this season as he contests the BTCC-support series for young racers and is one of the key championship contenders with the renowned HHC Motorsport squad.  Jamie lies fifth in the points heading for Oulton Park and knows that he must try to close the 36-point gap to early championship leader Senna Proctor. He is also eager to chalk up his first victory of the season after coming very close to winning last time out at Thruxton.

The race action in the championship so far this season has been frenetic, with places changing constantly and a gaggle of drivers battling furiously at the head of the races. Jamie was unlucky to be bundled out of contention in the opening race at Donington Park and that no-score has left him playing catch-up in the championship contest.

“I’m hoping for another strong weekend like last year,” said Jamie of the trip to the spectacular three-dimensional Cheshire track. “I really enjoy Oulton Park and it is one of my favourite circuits,” he said. A year ago, during his rookie season, Jamie was among the quickest drivers at Oulton and claimed a podium finish in the first race of the weekend.

After qualifying on Saturday afternoon, the first race starts at 13.40pm on Sunday with the second race at 16.55pm.  Both races will be broadcast live on ITV4 during the extensive BTCC programme.
