Caroline and Pirtek Racing aim for podium repeat at Donington Park

Jamie Caroline will seek to build on a stunning debut podium when the Pirtek Racing-backed driver heads for Donington Park this weekend (16/17 April) for the latest rounds of the Ford MSA Formula series.

The reigning Ginetta Junior champion played a starring role in one of the most dramatic races in series history at Brands Hatch earlier this month, racing hard in challenging conditions to secure a fine second place finish in only his second single-seater race.

That podium added to a solid top six finish in race one in Kent, and means Jamie heads to Donington Park this weekend sitting seventh in the championship standings.

The teenager has already shown his pace at the East Midlands circuit, having topped the morning session in his Jamun Racing-run car during an official Ford MSA Formula test session last month.

Jamie will now seek to replicate that kind of pace in the second meeting of his single-seater career, with his target being to make moves up the championship standings.

The 17-year-old currently sits less than ten points away from the top three.

“Brands Hatch was quite a challenging circuit to make my single-seater debut on because it’s so tight and difficult to overtake,” he said. “However, to come away from it with a podium finish was good, and I was able to learn a lot about what it is like to race a car with aero.

“Although it was a bit disappointing not to score in the final race at Brands, I’m looking forward to getting back in the car this weekend at Donington. It’s a great circuit and one that I think will be more suited to racing a single-seater.

“When we tested there earlier in the year I was able to top the times, and having also shown my pace at Brands Hatch, I feel confident about my chances this weekend.”

After qualifying on Saturday 16 April at 11.00, the first of three Ford MSA Formula races will be at 15.00 on Sunday, with races two and three following at 10.05 and 15.10; the latter being live on ITV4. Live timing and results from the weekend will be available at www.tsl-timing.com
