Quarter Century not out!

Twenty five years ago, Wimbledon FC were beating Liverpool at Wembley to be crowned FA Cup winners; the Great Britain team was heading for Korea to compete in the Seoul Olympics; and the British government was embroiled in the “salmonella in eggs” scandal sparked by an ill-judged comment from junior health secretary Edwina Currie.

Meanwhile, in West London, a fledgling hydraulic hose replacement franchise was opening its doors and appointing its first Licensees.

A quarter of a century later, Wimbledon FC no longer exists in its original form; Team GB has just hosted its own home Olympics; and Edwina Currie is now best known for her affair with former prime minister John Major.

So whatever happened to that fledgling hydraulic hose company?   Well, it grew and grew. And from those humble beginnings of a handful of staff, a couple of vans, and a scattering of Licensees dotted about the country, the company now covers the whole of the UK and Ireland with a network of 90+ dedicated Centres and more than 400 mobile service vehicles.

That longevity and continued growth can be attributed to many things: excellent products; great service; fantastic staff. But there is one over-arching reason why Pirtek has stood the test of time – The loyalty and commitment of our Licensees.

Some of our Licensees have been with us for 10, 20 and even 25 years. In cricketing terms, 25 is not a big number. But having endured two sizeable recessions whilst maintaining an almost constant upward growth curve, 25 not out is quite an achievement. The fact that it has been achieved with a number of the original players is truly remarkable.
